I thought today I would do something a little different... idea stolen from the inexhaustible and amazing archives of jasminestarblog.com.
I spent Saturday running productive errands. The only thing I didn't accomplish was Home Depot for replacement weather stripping for the front door. I just LOVE all the leaves blowing in under the door. Saturday evening was "little" cousin Brieana's 21st birthday party. Tommy and I attended, caught up on the latest family happenings, then hit the road for a visit to his parents' house in Beaumont. We stayed overnight, and true to form in the dry desert, Tommy's and my nose were cracked and dry and spared no bloodflow. I was awake for at least an hour fearing I would get a bloody nose on the white sheets and once I managed to sleep, woke up on my back choking on my own blood. Lovely We spent Sunday shopping at the outlets in Cabazon and came back to a magical Thanksgiving meal his mom had cooked. Since we'll be in the DomDom for the real Thanksgiving, we had a pre-celebration. Turkey, potatoes, etc. has always been my favorite meal ever, but there was something about those potatoes last night. Homemade mashed potatoes with not a lump to be found, perfectly seasoned, with just the right amount of turkey gravy. I can't stop thinking about it. There were fresh-baked cookies for dessert, but I didn't enjoy them like I wanted to because the magical potatoes had taken over my world. Here I am on Monday afternoon, almost 24 hours past since potato consumption and at least an hour drive to any possible leftovers. And that leads me to....
Today's Kisses:
- Potatoes mashed with love and gravy
- Productive days (mainly crossing things off the to-do list)
- Dominican Republic countdown: 6 days (!!!!!!!!!!)
- Time spent with extended family/boyfriend/boyfriend's family
- My nicely progressing tan-line blending thanks to Sun Club Tanning of Anaheim Hills
- Bomb gas mileage in my new car
- 50th wedding anniversary of Chris & Lalo Maraboto (2 of my coworkers)... 50 years!!!
Today's Disses:
- Nosebleeds!! Grrrrrr
- Knowing there are delicious potatoes out there somewhere that I am being denied access to
- Blackhawks victory over the Ducks yesterday, in overtime, with 30 seconds left... I mean come on
- Dogs who chew weather stripping off of front doors (and miniblind strings, but that's another issue altogether)
- Street construction making me 20 minutes late for work instead of my usual 10 minutes late
Despite the large volume of daily disses, I must remind myself that there are oodles more kisses to be thankful for. Happy Monday!
i enjoyed this.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this as well, but not as much as I enjoy my lump-free potatoes. You're the only person I know who likes them the same way as me.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea! Oh and thanks for making me hungry...turd.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it was enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteKrista, I don't discriminate mashed potato consistency. Lumpy or smooth, I like 'em all. But I remember you prefer the instant box kind because of the lump factor in homemade. Lindsay, sorry for making you hungry. Except I'm not sorry because someone should share this pain with me.
I don't like lumps.
ReplyDeleteSometimes you feel like a lump, sometimes you don't.
